Matthew Carroll, President & CEO

Serving as President & CEO, Matthew Carroll is responsible for corporate strategy, product positioning, marketing, business development, and the management of all strategic relationships, including technology providers Salesforce Commerce Cloud (formerly Demandware) and Oracle Commerce (formerly ATG). Carroll has spent the entire 30 + years of his professional life working within the retail and apparel industries, with the past 20 focused on providing eCommerce solutions, services, and infrastructure for retailers and branded manufacturers. 

Prior to the founding of Ignition Commerce in October of 07, Carroll served as the SVP of Business Development for Accretive Commerce. In this role, Carroll determined general & client specific business acquisition strategies and maintained ultimate responsibility over new client sales cycles. After returning to client acquisition from eCommerce operations in mid-March 07, Accretive Commerce won five new specialty retail and manufacturing clients after six months without a win. This run of success, in large part, led to GSI Commerce’s acquisition of Accretive in September of 2007. 

From 1999 to 2002, Carroll served as the Founder and President of Interactive Apparel, a turn-key eCommerce service provider focused on the apparel and media verticals. In his tenure at Interactive Apparel, Carroll was responsible for corporate strategic direction, capital raising, client acquisition, and development of marketing programs and strategic alliances on his client’s behalf. Carroll personally closed 15 exclusive, multi-year contracts with branded apparel manufacturers ranging from $50 M to $500 M in annual wholesale revenue and led the company from conceptual inception to a multi-Million dollar service provider.

Mike Sewell, CTO

As the technical creator and developer of Ignition Commerce’s reference applications, Sewell’s primary responsibilities include optimization of our Oracle and Salesforce Commerce Cloud product offerings, execution of new product strategies, and active participation in new client implementations. Enjoying a 20 Year career in development, with the last three focused on Enterprise initiatives, Sewell has extensive experience utilizing databases in both design, coding and tuning (Oracle, DB2, SQLServer, mysql.) Additionally, Sewell is a Master of several different languages. Including C#, C, C++, and Java on several different platforms. (AIX, Solaris, Windows, Linux, AS400). Widely recognized as one of the top ATG resources globally, Sewell’s focus today is on the successful implementation of new clients leveraging the Empower platform.

Bo Grist, SVP Product Development

Serving as the SVP of Product Development for Ignition Commerce, Grist’s primary responsibilities are the delivery of all client implementations and continued functional evolution of Ignition Commerce products. As part of this role, Grist is responsible for the creation of all functional and technical requirements. Grist also serves as the technical subject matter expert during the sales cycle and with the existing client base.

Prior to Ignition Commerce, Grist served as the Vice President of Operations for Accretive Commerce. In the role, Grist was responsible for leading the Company’s key operational functions, including new client implementations, account management, and client services. Grist has built his career in a multi-client environment where he has developed operational systems that reduce production time while increasing stability and predictability of projects. 

After working as a programmer and managing development teams in the computer-based training industry, Grist began his career in eCommerce in 1999 as the CIO of Interactive Apparel, a company focused on providing technology, marketing, design, fulfillment and call center services for apparel companies. At Interactive Apparel, Grist led a team that successfully launched integrated solutions for over 15 manufacturers and retailers such as Russell Athletic, AOL, FUBU and Ben Sherman.
